Dear Bulldog Family,

It’s hard to believe that this school year is almost over. Let’s make the best of the last few weeks that we have together. Instead of counting down the day, make every day count. The 2011-2012 school year has been filled with many great accomplishments and achievements which make us “Proud to be a Bulldog."

To the graduating class of 2012 I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on reaching the next major milestone in your life. With graduation coming up you are going to begin the next phase of your life and I am confident that your experience at FPC will help you with your future endeavors. It took an entire community of students, staff, and faculty working together to help create the memories that you will carry with you for the rest of your lives. We hope that you will always cherish these moments, look back at your time in high school in a positive manner, and remember the many people that have encouraged you along the way. If you always remember to “Be a Bulldog,” you will be successful in all that you do.

To our current 9th, 10th, and 11th graders that are coming back for the 2012-2013 school year, we are looking forward to your arrival and are excited to have you back for another year. Many of you have completed your course selection sheets for next year, and I encourage everyone to meet with your guidance counselor if you have not already done so to make sure that you are still on track with your academic plan before leaving for the summer. Next year we are looking forward to expanding our Positive Behavioral Support program to continually recognize students that are going above and beyond, expanding our academic programs and offerings, and continuing to excel in athletics and extracurricular activities. We are proud of our “Bulldogs” and that is why FPC is “Florida’s Proudest Campus”.

To the parents and community I want to make sure that everyone knows that at FPC we believe our students are capable of achieving at the highest levels. We are committed to making sure that each child reaches his or her potential to be competitive in the 21st century. If that is not happening, we need to know so that we can continue to grow and make student learning and success our number one priority. Communication between the school and home is something we are always trying to improve, and we value your feedback.

Educationally Yours,

Jacob Oliva

Dear Bulldog Family,

We are having a great second semester and it’s hard to believe that we are getting ready to start term two. Thank you for your support. School grades for high schools were released last week and we are excited to announce that we dropped the “D” and grabbed the “B”. Our school grade is now a “B” and we are proud to “B” Bulldogs.

Communication between home and school is something we are always seeking to improve. If you have not signed up for the Skyward parent portal, you can do so at FPC this Thursday (12/16) from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Media Center. This will give you online access from home to view you child’s grades. The guidance department has met with all students in grades 9-12 to explain GPA’s, credits, and graduation. I strongly encourage everyone to meet with their child’s guidance counselor and review your child’s academic plan. Working together we can ensure success.

January 19th begins the second semester. Each student with a passing grade from the first term will receive a half credit earned towards their required 24 credit graduation requirement.

Our guidance department has registered all seniors for the Bright Futures Scholarship through their English classes. If your child was absent or has Dual Enrollment, they can apply at www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org.

Dear Bulldog Family,

Thank you for a wonderful start to the school year. This is due to everyone working hard together to reach our goal to become one of the highest performing schools in the nation.

Part of our challenges this school year is meeting the state mandate associated with class size reduction. At the high school level this means that our core classes (Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and World Language) cannot exceed 25 students. In years past we were able to use a school average to meet this requirement, but this year the mandate is pushed down to the classroom level. In order to meet this mandate, we are hiring additional staff due to an increase in enrollment. Additional staff will mean that student schedules will be changed in order to balance the class loads. These changes will take place immediately and our goal is to keep the disruption to student schedules as minimal as possible.

We appreciate your support and understanding as we work towards meeting this state mandate. We will continue to have a great year and keep FPC as “Florida’s Proudest Campus”. If you have additional questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at (386) 437-7540 ext. 1009.

Dear Bulldog Family,

Welcome back! It’s hard to believe that this summer is almost over and we are about to begin a new school year. It’s a parent’s enthusiasm, support, and involvement that inspire children to do their best. Parent involvement is one of the biggest indicators of a child's success, and it is a parent's nurturing and guidance that allows children to develop a true love of learning. With strong parent support working along with our quality staff, we will continue to make FPC “Florida’s Proudest Campus”.

I strongly encourage each and every one of you to meet with your child’s guidance counselor and review your child’s academic plan. We offer many educational opportunities and high quality programs to help prepare our students to be competitive in the 21st century. We have a rich tradition of success and we are committed to our schools mission of “Raising Student Achievement Every Day, Every Way”.

My pledge to the community is to provide a safe and orderly environment filled with high quality instruction for all of our students. My challenge to the community is to be supportive of our schools and to become involved in the education of our students. We want everyone at FPC to “Be” a Bulldog: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Engaged, and Be Safe.

Please let me know if you have any questions, as my door will always be open to the students and families of our community.

Educationally Yours,
Jacob Oliva

Dear Bulldog Family,

There have been some administrative changes at FPC that happened over Spring Break. Principal Nancy Willis has begun her new position as principal of Old Kings Elementary School, and I am honored to take over the reins for Mrs. Willis here at Flagler Palm Coast High School.  Over the past several years Mrs. Willis has done an excellent job as principal and she will be greatly missed. I have been affiliated with FPC over the last ten years as both a coach and an assistant principal. I have experience as a teacher, dean, and principal at the elementary level as well. FPC is a place that I truly consider to be home.

As the principal of FPC, we will continue to offer high quality programs that prepare our students to be competitive in the 21st century. We have a rich tradition of success and I am committed to our schools mission of “Raising Student Achievement Every Day, Every Way”.

My pledge to the community is to provide a safe and orderly environment filled with high quality instruction for all of our students. My challenge to the community is to be supportive of our schools and to become involved in the education of our students. Together we will continue to keep FPC as Florida’s Proudest Campus.

Please let me know if you have any questions, as my door will always be open to the students and families of our community.

Educationally Yours,
Jacob Oliva

Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year. FPC is Florida’s proudest campus. We have an excellent staff who are here to meet the needs of their students. It is important for teachers, students, parents and administrators to work together to provide a positive learning environment. Currently, we have 206 teachers and 2379 students.
