Senior Update 5/7/12

Graduation Admission Tickets:

There is no easy way to say this… so I’m saying it straight… We are out of Graduation Tickets.  The Ocean Center limited FPCHS to distributing 6000 tickets for families and friends to attend graduation, and they have all been distributed.   If your senior has not picked up their tickets, don’t panic, I have them set aside for you.  Every graduate is guaranteed those original 10 tickets.  If there are tickets set aside for an individual who does not make it to graduation, those tickets will be turned over to the OC to be issued the evening of graduation on a first come first serve basis.

If you are sitting at home with extra tickets, PLEASE return them to the school so we can get them in the hands of families that really want them

GRADUATES do NOT need a ticket… your gown is your ticket in the door ONLY family and friends sitting in the stands will be required to have a ticket for admission.

Age ---if you need a seat you need a ticket!

Handicapped Seating on the floor ---first come first serve, handicapped individual and ONE attendant may be on the arena floor in the handicapped seating area (still needs a ticket)

Every car will be required to pay a $5 parking fee. Pre-sale parking passes will be available at ticket distribution. These are the same price as what the OC will charge if you show up without one but purchasing ahead helps with traffic plus the school gets a $ kick back.

Baccalaureate:

Baccalaureate is a non-denominational blessing of the senior class.  Graduates wear their cap/gown and participate in a processional… this is a great alternative for friends you would have liked to bring to graduation but do not have tickets for.  The event is Wednesday May 23rd and starts promptly at 7pm… its daylight and a wonderful opportunity to get pictures with the graduates.  Please join us at Santa Maria Del Mar Catholic Church on north 9th street in Flagler Beach.

Yearbooks:

The 2012 yearbooks arrived on campus today.  They will be distributed to seniors at the senior signing party 8am on Wednesday May 9th in the FPC dining hall.  Anyone who cannot attend this event may pick up their book from the yearbook room or the activities office after the party.  If you did not pre-order a book and would like to get one at this point, they are now $100 CASH ONLY.

PROM:

Prom is this Friday night… 8pm-midnight at the Daytona Beach Hilton.  Tickets are being sold in the activities office from 8am-11pm or in the dining hall during lunches for $50 CASH ONLY… thru Thursday May 10th.  Students attending should be prepared to pay for parking either in the Ocean Walk garage (about $5) or valet at the hotel ($10-15) but once inside the prom there is no need for additional money.  Every ticket holder will receive a complimentary picture package as well as food and drinks.

May 24       Exam Make up day, all senior grades due by noon

May 25            Tentative Senior Beach Party at Flagler Beach

Beach Party – why is it TENATIVE?

In order for us to have the beach party on Friday the 25th, I need help… both physical and financial.  Last year, there was a group of parents that attempted to plan a “project graduation” event (an after the ceremony alcohol/drug free event) it fell through due to lack of support, but they committee had raised about $1000…. That money was then used to cover the costs of the beach party (security, hamburgers/hot dogs/chips/drinks, and door prizes).  If the class of 2012 wants to see another senior beach party, then I need a handful of parents willing to step up and help.  Besides some financial donations to cover the costs, I need parents to help BBQ, supervise, shop…  Anyone willing to help out, should e-mail me at perryc@flaglerschools.com

Graduation Practice and Graduation Ceremony

Practice is scheduled for Wednesday the 30th at 1pm in the FPCHS 800 gym.  Seniors are asked to park in the back parking lot.  Obviously it will depend on the cooperation of the senior class, but we should be done by 2:30.  This is a mandatory event!

The graduation ceremony is Thursday May 31st.  Graduates must be in the Ocean Center Expo Hall (on the west side of the building) at 6pm… this is also the time that doors open to family and friends.  The ceremony ends with a recessional that leads the graduates OUT of the building so please plan a spot outside the OC to meet after the ceremony.
